The Hikvision DS-7108NI-Q1/8P/M is an 8-channel IP NVR that supports IP cameras up to 6 MP resolution. With H.265+ video compression, it can significantly reduce storage demand compared to older H.264-based recorders. It supports HDDs up to 6 TB capacity. HDMI and VGA outputs can be used simultaneously with up to 1080p resolution, so you can connect both a TV and a monitor at the same time. Intelligent functions include line crossing detection and intrusion detection. The NVR has 8 built-in PoE ports, allowing you to connect and power the cameras directly without an additional PoE switch.
Using the Hik-Connect app, you can manage your Hikvision security devices from a single platform. After registration, you can add your devices by serial number and access them via smartphone or a web interface on your computer. The app offers live view, playback and device configuration. You can customise notifications, manage devices remotely and share camera access with family members if needed.
Yes. If you connect the NVR to the internet and install the manufacturer’s app or software on your phone or computer, you can access live images and recordings remotely from anywhere with an internet connection.
Yes. The NVR does not require internet access if you only want to view recordings locally. You will need an internal hard drive (HDD, not included) that provides enough storage for the recorded video. You can play back the stored footage directly from the NVR.
Motion detection is generally recommended. In this mode, the NVR records only when movement is detected, saving storage space and reducing wear on the hard drive. It also makes searching for relevant events faster and more efficient.
No. The NVR automatically overwrites the oldest recordings once the hard drive reaches full capacity, so no manual deletion is required.
In IP systems this depends on the powering device, such as the NVR or PoE switch. Some switches can support distances over 500 m depending on bandwidth requirements, while typical PoE switches can transmit data and power over approximately 200–300 m.
